Primary High Notes 24th April

Primary High Notes 24th April

I do hope you are all continuing to keep well.

I appreciate just how difficult this week is likely to have been for all families with the additional pressures of ensuring the children are busy with productive schoolwork. Please do not stress about being the perfect parent under these circumstances - it’s impossible!

I would like to share with you some lovely comments we have received from parents over the past few days. This is just a selection, there are many:

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for your continued hard work with this - I imagine it must be really hard getting to grips with new ways of teaching without the normal face-to-face interactions. The children said that yesterday using Teams was working much better and they both liked being able to ask questions and were encouraged by your quick responses.  As a family we really appreciate all that you’re doing.

Can I just add that already the level of contact and professionalism our daughters teachers are showing is fabulous, we are so impressed and couldn’t be happier that we moved her to Derby High. She is enjoying the work and is wholeheartedly throwing herself into it.

She is completely into the work being provided on-line.  Listening in to her and a couple of her friends, they’re working so hard together.  I think she’s secretly enjoying using her brain again!

Just wanted to drop you a brief note to pass on our thanks and appreciation for all of the hard work that has gone in to supporting our children during these unprecedented times. I think you and the school have shown fantastic leadership and support and it further endorses our decision to choose Derby High for the education of our daughter.

I do appreciate all feedback from parents and pupils, as it all helps us to focus on what is working well and on consolidating good practice as we move forward. Please do use Survey Monkey sent to you today do keep us informed.

I would like to welcome Mr Philippe Ince to the Languages department. Mr Ince will be teaching French and German to A level.

Have a good weekend.

Best wishes,

PSHE Anti-Boredom Jar

We have received lots of wonderful photographs this week of all the work and activities our pupils have been doing. Thank you so much for sharing these with us.

A very popular activity this week was Dr E-B’s challenge for PSHE. We have enjoyed seeing all your anti-boredom jars and hope you had fun making them. To watch Dr E-B’s PSHE week one challenge again on YouTube, click here.
