Flying the Flag at DCFC

Fifteen of our Junior School pupils were flag bearers at Pride Park for the match between Derby County and Aston Villa. The children were incredibly excited for what was going to be an excellent opportunity.

We arrived at the stadium as the away team coach pulled into the car park. The children were overjoyed as they saw former England captain John Terry step off the coach and enter the stadium. We then entered the stadium ourselves and found the seats we would be sitting in. The children enjoyed seeing the players take to the field to warm up and then had a photograph taken at pitch side by the official photographer.

Just before kick-off, the moment we had all been waiting for arrived. The children walked onto the pitch carrying the giant Derby County flag as the players emerged from the tunnel. We then took our seats behind the goal and watched a fantastic game of football unfold.

This was the first match some of the children had ever been to, so it was absolutely fantastic that all 3 of the goals scored in the match were in the goal we were sat behind. The game ended Derby County 0 – Aston Villa 3 and the children all had an incredible day!
