ARTiculation Day

On Wednesday 10th October eleven members of U5 and L5 went to Chatsworth House to attend their first ever ARTiculation day.  They met Lucy Salisbury from the Roche Educational Trust, Dr. Abigail Harrison-Moore, Head of Art and Art History at the University of Leeds, Peter Murray Director of Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Matthew Hirst Head of Art and Historic Collections. The event was hosted by the Duke of Devonshire.

During the day students from Derby High and two other schools were divided into four groups and introduced to four treasures from Chatsworth House. Groups investigated either the Emperor Fountain, the Nijinski Hare, Annigoni’s Deborah or da Vinci’s Leda and the Swan. They interviewed the Duke about these items and then presented their findings verbally to us all.  Advice was given by the eminent guests and the day was classed as ‘amazing , fulfilling and special’ by all who felt that this had really given them much more confidence with public speaking.
