Derby High School Celebrates Exceptional GCSE Results

Derby High School is today celebrating exceptional GCSE results for a super, multi-talented Year 11 cohort. The students have shown fantastic academic ability as well as the great spirit of confidence, positivity and energy that Derby High students are renowned for.

With an impressive 37% of grades overall at the elusive top grade 9, and a remarkable 60% of grades at 9-8, the year group has performed brilliantly across the broad range of academic subjects, all with a 100% pass rate. 18 students achieved all 9–8 grades in their subjects, which is equivalent to them achieving A* grades across all of their subjects under the old system.

Amy Chapman, Head of Derby High, commented, “This year has been very challenging for all pupils, parents and staff across the country as we have been faced with an unprecedented variety of uncertainties and anxieties in what have been strange times. More than ever, we are very proud of all of our students and staff for how they have coped and for always putting our Derby High family first. It is a testament to the character and resilience of our Year 11 students that they have achieved some fantastic GCSE results and have become remarkable young people. We are very excited about welcoming these students into our Sixth Form in September to continue their Derby High journey.”
