A Level Economics at Derby High Sixth Form
Derby’s top performing independent school is delighted to announce that from September 2021 A level Economics will be added to the already extensive list of A level subjects on offer.
This will be the 17th A level subject on offer to students at the successful Sixth Form, along with an Extended Project Qualification and Level 3 certificate in Food Science and Nutrition.
Commenting on the introduction of A level Economics to the Sixth Form, Mrs Chapman, Head, said, “Economics gives students a good understanding of how the world works, along with a strong focus on current affairs and cultural awareness. It develops logic, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Having studied Economics at university myself, this is a subject I’m very passionate about.”
Mr Gavin King will be joining Derby High from Chellaston Academy in September 2021 to teach Economics and Business. With over 17 years’ experience teaching Business and Economics at Senior Schools in the Midlands, Mr King brings a wealth of experience and expertise with him. Commenting on his new appointment he said, “at all times, but especially so now, economics gives students an insight into what is happening in the world and why and prepares them for their adult life in more ways than most subjects. I hope to inspire Derby High students in what I consider to be the most interesting A level course available.”
