Year 1 Trip to Tamworth Castle
Year 1 children enjoyed an informative and exciting trip to Tamworth Castle this week in support of their Knights & Castles topic.
Whilst there, the children met Sarah the main servant of the castle and helped her to prepare the dining table for the Lord and Lady. During this, they learnt how to show reverence to the Lord and Lady, practising their bows and curtseys, when Lady Ferrer arrived for her luncheon.
The children were extremely enthusiastic when they met the sword master, who taught them about taking care of armour and how to “strike high” and “strike low” with a bill hook in battle.
We rounded off the day, with a look around the castle, taking in views from the top of the tower and the battlements.
