This week saw 5 of our Lower 6th heading to the STEM lab at Loughborough University for their 2 day Engineering Education Scheme Residential. The students had lots of work to do designing and building their prototype. Using state of the art computer aided design, manufacturing equipment and 3D printers they really worked hard to get their design ready for use. They then used Arduino coding to start to programme how they want the motor in their design to work.
The budding engineers also heard some very informative talks on the wide and varied career of engineering as well as gaining advice on how to manage their time and write a professional standard project.
It wasn’t all hard work as they had some down time in the evening as they enjoyed a table quiz over their evening meal and had a chance to meet students from other schools across the region.
As always the girls really did the school proud and they have completed a large portion of the work they need to do for completion of their project in May.
