Derby High students are celebrating an excellent set of results for this year’s A level students with two thirds of grades at A*-B, and 38% at A*-A.
In addition to their A levels, almost half of the year group completed an Extended Project Qualification, which universities value highly for the independent skills developed in the process. Exploring a diverse range of challenging topics, 75% of these students achieved an A*-B grade.
Headteacher Amy Chapman said: “We are delighted with these impressive results. The hard work and motivation of our students has ensured that the results are a real credit to them and we wish them every success as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives. They reflect just how hard our students and staff have worked to ensure that all have achieved excellent outcomes. The standard of teaching and learning in our Sixth Form is truly impressive. I would like to thank all involved.”
Claire Bellman, Head of Sixth Form, said she was delighted with the results.
She said: “We are a small sixth form where teachers know our students really well, meaning they get the individual support they need to be successful.”
“It is a great finale for a fantastic year group, many of whom joined us in the Primary School, showing how continuity in education is so important for successful outcomes. At the same time, I have been thrilled to see how easily students, who joined us in the Sixth Form from other schools, settled into our supportive community and have made the most of the many opportunities available.”
With the majority having been accepted onto their first choice course at their first choice university, there were smiles in abundance at this morning's A Level results celebration!BACK
