Duke of Edinburgh Award
The school is very proud to be a licenced centre for the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh awards scheme.
Awards are given to students over the age of 14 who complete a programme of activities.
Students at Derby High School can work towards the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards and to achieve these they have set objectives in four areas: volunteering, physical, skills and expedition.
As well as helping the students to form new friendships, the scheme gives them a wide range of valuable life skills including independence, strength of character, self-confidence, responsibility and leadership.
