On Wednesday, Jessica and Mahnoor competed for the honour of representing the school at the Regional finals of ARTiculation.
ARTiculation, run by The Roche Court Educational Trust, is a national competition designed to promote the appreciation and discussion of art.
Both of these students had put in a considerable amount of work to make their presentations as interesting and entertaining as they could. With only 10 minutes each, they had to show their passion and interest in their chosen artwork.
Jessica spoke about Damien Hurst and his piece ‘The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living’ and Mahnoor about the Manga artist ‘Junji Ito’.
The judges had a difficult job, but after questioning the students and a long discussion, Jessica was announced as the winner and will now compete on Wednesday 16th January at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts in Birmingham. Mahnoor will be going along to support her. Good luck, Jessica. Let’s hope she can make it through to the final at Cambridge University in March!
