The Year 5/6 Cycle Club enjoyed a real treat on Tuesday 9th October – a track session at the Velodrome! The session was led by Anne, a qualified instructor from Cycle Derby and someone who the pupils all know really well from their weekly After School Cycle Club.
After a safety talk, it was helmets on, cleated shoes on and time to grab a bike! The bikes were provided as part of the session and are special track-bikes (fixed wheel, dropped handle-bars and cleats!).
The staff were amazed at how quickly the pupils took to track-cycling. After a few laps on the ‘safety track’ they were ready for ‘the boards’. An hour whizzed by, literally!
Responsible Risk, Communication and Persistence were all certainly in evidence! Well done to all!
