Rounders Win!

On Wednesday afternoon, the U11 girls rounders team took to Darley Park to compete in a Rounders festival organised by the Old Vicarage School.

Having trained hard at rounders club, this was their first chance to play together as a team and they were all excited to begin. The girls got off to a flying start beating Pennine Way 18 ½ to 7 with a fantastic batting and bowling performance from Evie. In high spirits, the girls entered the second game, this time playing against Old Vicarage. Vital rounders from Chloe and fantastic fielding by Millie sealed a 12 to 10 victory.

The team had one game left to play, knowing that winning would see them crowned champions. Salterford House were the opponents. Captain, Maddie led by example with the bat and an excellent display from Isabelle helped gain a third victory of the day for Derby High with a score of 12 to 5 ½.

The girls thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and were delighted when receiving their medals for winning the festival!  A huge well done to all of the players who were a true credit to the school.
