Over the Easter holiday, our Year 6 were given a homework task to write a letter to someone who inspires them and Chatsworth’s Cadence contacted the astronomer who discovered the TRAPPIST-1 planetary system. She received a message back from the main man himself, Michael Gillon and he, in turn, put her in touch with Prof. Amaury Triaud who is one of his team and a major part of the discovery based at the University of Birmingham.
From this, Miss Law organised for Professor Triaud to visit school and talk to Years 5 and 6 about his work. The pupils found the talk very interesting: it made them think about whether there was life in outer space and found out about some of the telescopes that were looking for it!
