Derwent Brass Ensemble

Tuesday 28th November 2017, 7.30pm, Derby High School Senior Hall

We are delighted to welcome this ensemble from Derbyshire's Premier Brass Band.  Derwent Brass are a widely popular, entertaining and award winning musical ensemble.  This versatile band regularly perform to capacity audiences and have represented Derbyshire in both concerts and contests in the UK and internationally.  The programme promises a range of music to inspire and entertain.

Chapel Choir Lunchtime Recital at Southwell Minster

Monday 4th December 2017 - 12.30pm

Following on from their successful performance in Worcester Cathedral last year, the Chapel Choir will sing a short concert of sacred music in this wonderful building.

There is no requirement to book tickets through the Box Office for this event - all welcome!

Free admission, with retiring collection.

 

Junior Christmas Concert

The annual showcase of festive instrumental and vocal music from some of our youngest students.

Melbourne Christmas Concert

Friday 8th December 2017, 7.30pm

Melbourne Assembly Rooms

The Derby High School Chapel Choir will sing in part of this Christmas Celebration Concert, which is hosted by Melbourne-based choir, A-Choir'd Taste (Directed by our singing teacher, Paul Marshall).

The concert will include a variety of Christmas Music suitable for all the family with some well-known carols for all to enjoy!

Senior School Music Concert

One of our main concerts of the year, featuring the school orchestra, the popular 'Sisters of Swing' jazz band, over 100 singers, various instrumental ensembles and soloists.  Always a night to remember!

Christmas Carol Service

Derby Cathedral

A traditional carol service which will include music from all five choirs from across the school - a very special event in our music calendar.

Recital by Soprano Soloist, Karen England

Monday 22nd January, 7pm

Derby High School, Devonshire Room

A great opportunity to hear Karen England perform a fabulous programme of varied music for voice and piano.  Karen has performed with major world-class orchestras and conductors.

In 2001 she and her singing partner, Rebecca Knight, (the 'Opera Babes') signed to Sony Records and became International Opera stars, selling over a million records with their first album and touring it around the world.

Derby High School & Derby Grammar School Choral Concert

Saturday 10th March 2018, 7pm

Derby Cathedral

Our annual choral concert for 2018 will be hosted by Derby High School.  In addition to concerto performances and smaller choral works, the concert will feature Benjamin Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb and John Rutter's exciting Gloria as the central items to the evening.  Not to be missed!

The Elgin String Orchestra Concert

Wednesday 2nd May 2018, 7.30pm

Derby High School, Senior Hall

The return of this String Orchestra featuring musicians from across the East Midlands promises a wonderful programme of String Music.  The finale of the concert will feature advanced student string players from the area and will be conducted by Ed Temple, Director of Music at Derby High School.

A Summer Showcase

Thursday 28th June 2018, 7pm

Derby High School, Senior Hall

A showcase of musical talent to end the school year with a particular focus on the lower school.  Sisters of Swing Jazz Band will play from 6.30pm. Strawberries and cream teas will be on sale.

Free admission with a retiring collection.
